Depending upon your level of dedication, a Food Science major can take the following time to complete:

  • Associate Degree: will see you test and discover new recipes, improve on existing recipes and challenge your thinking around food education, food resourcing and more. Usually completed in two years.
  • Bachelor Degree: offers a more rounded study in all facets of Food Sciences, suited to those looking for careers in food science including jobs as a food microbiologist, food technologist, in food product development, as a food chemist, and in quality assurance.
  • Master Degree: combines a strong core in food chemistry, processing, sensory, safety and microbiology. This requires an extra one or two years of formal study.

What You Will Learn?

Degrees in Food Science teach students how to process raw agricultural products and transform them into goods sold in markets and stores. Food Science classes help graduates understand how the food industry works and how they can improve the techniques used to develop, store, package, and transport food products.

A Bachelor degree is typically equivalent to 3 or 4 years full-time studies, each year comprising of 10 subjects. Final cost can be calculated by multiplying the number of years by the number of subjects per year by the cost per subject.

Example: 3 years x 10 subjects per year x $570 per subject = $17,100.
